2019 Citrus Oil Market Trend

Citrus as a category has seen prices easing across the board, with particular weakness in orange terpenes / d’ limonene from the US market
Orange oil / orange terpenes / d’ limonene:
The large gap between orange oil and orange terpene prices persists, and curtailed demand from the US market for d’ limonene has caused prices to fall further in the past three months. Orange oil has fallen in sympathy, depending on quality and volumes. With the new improved Florida crop coming on stream now we can imagine further volatility in the coming months – the best counsel is to buy on an “as needs” basis.
Lime distilled:
Most suppliers have maintained their prices FOB from origin, in spite of strong demand for the fresh fruit. Demand for the oil has been a little slow.
Lime cold pressed:
Good availability from Mexico and Brazil saw prices come down, and this may weaken further in line with lemon in the coming months.
Lemon :
The good lemon crop and the continuing weak Argentine peso has finally seen some price easing. Most producers were extremely reluctant to offer lower price before the new year, but we are now seeing more realistic levels of lower price on an FOB basis.
Tangerine oil:
Top quality dancy from Mexico remains tight, and prices have remained the same. We have seen good business in the murcott and cravo varieties from Brazil, with stable pricing.
Grapefruit oils:
Better availability of pink grapefruit oil has seen prices come down, with the gap in price between white and pink significantly larger than before. Top quality white grapefruit oil still commands a premium price, and we see no sign of this changing in the coming months/years.
Mandarin oil green, yellow, red:
Good availability of green mandarin oil from Italy and South America, with more restricted supplies of yellow and red mandarin. Top quality red mandarin oil from Sicily has commanded premium prices.
